SKV is Proud to Announce Anthony J. “Tony” Phillips has Joined the Firm

Experienced investigations and compliance attorney, Anthony J. (“Tony”) Phillips, joined SKV as Of Counsel on April 11, 2017.  Tony has a substantial track record in the investigation, remediation, and management of compliance issues faced by mid-size and large businesses.  He also has successfully represented companies, individuals, and the government in high stakes legal matters.

“SKV is thrilled to add Tony Phillips to our deep bench of legal talent,” stated founding partner Craig Smyser.  “His experience running in-house compliance and ethics programs, work as a federal prosecutor, and strong trial track record complement our award-winning white collar defense and civil litigation practices.”  White collar practice leader Shaun Clarke added: “Tony’s work in and commitment to the field of investigations and anti-corruption law will ensure continued excellence in our firm’s representation of corporations in internal investigations and individuals in white collar criminal defense.  We are very excited to welcome him to our team.”

Tony most recently served as the Senior Legal Officer for Corporate Ethics and Compliance at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he developed and directed the corporate ethics and compliance program.  Previously, as a trial attorney for the Public Integrity Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, Tony’s courtroom victories in a high-profile police corruption case resulted in a Commendation from former FBI Director Robert Mueller.  Tony began his legal career as an Air Force JAG Officer, during which he litigated over a dozen courts-martial and was lauded by a military judge as “the best base-level trial counsel in Europe.”  Tony also deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, where he conducted major crimes investigations and was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the third-highest award bestowed on military members by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Tony graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with High Honors from Michigan State University.  He obtained his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was Co-Managing Editor of the BlackLetter Law Journal.
